The Cluffy Wedge is a foot orthotic modification

The foot is a complicated part of the body since there are a lot of small bones which are joined collectively by so many ligaments and moved by so many muscles. On top of that we carry weight on the foot and subject it to so many stresses and strains. To make it worse we put the feet inside the unnatural environment of a shoe. It's because of this that the career of podiatry exists since there is just so much which might go wrong with the foot and connected structures. Foot doctors use a lots of different treatments to treat conditions of the feet and lower limb.

Foot orthoses are often used to manage the wide array of conditions that might be wrong with the foot. The objective of foot supports are to alter alignment of the feet in the direction of a more corrected normal alignment or to lower the load in structures of the feet which are producing problems to enable them to get better. The foot supports do this via having various design features which are meant to match the feet. A bespoke foot orthotic will do that. However, over the counter insoles can do this, generally by chance. They may or might not match the foot of the person with them as opposed to a custom made one will. There are numerous characteristics that may be varied, such as the height of the mid-foot along with the degree of cushioning. There are even designs known as the Kinetic wedge and Cluffy Wedge.

Sometimes the less costly over-the-counter type supports are better and other times the custom made ones are better. It will all depend upon the nature of the problem, the foot type and structure as well as the guidance of a good specialist as to what is the better option. For those who have an issue with your feet and think you need some foot orthoses, then go to a good foot doctor.
